Presented by Auriel Andrew Foundation

AURIEL ANDREW (MUSICIAN/VOCALIST/ACTOR) OAM
(20/10/1947 -2/1/2017)

The family of the late Auriel (Francis) Andrew will hold a concert to honour her.  She was an Indigenous performer of the Eastern Arrernte/Alyewerre people of Central Australia.

Auriel was born in Darwin and grew up in Alice Springs, moving to Adelaide at 21 to pursue her singing career. Eventually, she moved to Newcastle and married.  She had two children and many grandchildren.   This did not prevent her from developing into a seasoned performer, not only as a vocalist but also as an actor. She appeared on TV Series Heartland, Country Practice and Hush, also on the Johnny Mack Show(1963)
Reg Lindsay Channel 9, Ernie Sigley Show, Sang for Pop Paul 1980. Auriel performed for her people on many remote communities of Central Australia.

She leaves a legacy of talented children and grandchildren and they will perform songs that she recorded along with local family members and friends.
