Central Craft

Central Craft is a not-for-profit member organisation that supports and promotes contemporary craft and design in Central Australia. It provides advocacy and support, promotion, professional development opportunities and access to studio facilities for craftspeople across a broad range of craft disciplines.

Visitors are free to visit the Retail Outlet, Gallery and Studios to see examples of contemporary craft and design from a broad range of craft disciplines including ceramics, woodwork, silk painting, watercolour, weaving, knitting, jewellery, lapidary, fabric printing and dyeing.

Central Craft also offers workshops that members of the public can participate in.  These workshops are presented by members of Central Craft and cover a variety of craft techniques.

The Central Craft building is found in the original single staff quarters and mess for Connellan Airways.

June Marriott Gallery

June Marriott was a foundation member of Central Craft in 1974, known then as the Craft Association.

She studied at the Royal School of Needlework in London and had a big influence on the growth of craft in Alice Springs.

The June Marriott Gallery provides members of Central Craft the opportunity to showcase new works.
