Circus Oz are bringing their rock n roll chaos back to the Araluen Arts Centre
The Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture’s Araluen Arts Centre welcome back the driving force in Australian contemporary circus, Circus Oz with their new show Precarious.
“Circus Oz are credited with revitalising the traditional circus art form in a uniquely Australian way, and we can’t wait to have them back in the Araluen theatre for another production of non-stop acrobatic mayhem for audiences of all ages,” Senior Director of the Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture’s Araluen Cultural Precinct, Dr. Mark Crees said.
“Precarious is a 70 minute spectacle of innovative circus acts that creates an exciting three-dimensional world examining the fragility that exists between humanity and nature.”
The outstanding skills and talents of the Circus Oz ensemble will include extraordinary foot juggling, jaw-dropping aerial rope and tippy ring, mesmerising roué cyr, Chinese pole and hula hoop – all hilariously woven together with original music from the live Circus Oz band.
“Circus Oz continue to push circus innovation, extending expectations of circus skill and apparatus through collaboration with the Circus Oz ensemble, musicians and production team,” Dr Crees said.
Circus Oz Artistic Director, Rob Tannion, has joined forces with independent director, Kate Fryer to create a production that looks at the mayhem of nature with phenomenal acrobatics, spectacular aerials, live music and physical comedy.
The Precarious Co-Directors explain, “We are in precarious times environmentally. How much more can our ecosystem take? Are we approaching the tipping point? Can humanity restore the natural balance before it is too late?”
Precarious by Circus Oz will be live onstage at the Araluen Arts Centre on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 June, 7.30pm.
Ticket prices are $50 for adults, $45 for concessions and $40 for Araluen Arts Centre Members. Araluen Arts Centre Members with a concession card can purchase tickets for $35.
Tickets are available online at www.araluenartscentre.nt.gov.au or from the Araluen Box Office on (08) 8951 1122.
