Fresh Takes | Araluen Art Collection

Exhibitions

Gallery 1

16 May - 11 June 2025

A temporary exhibition that takes a fresh look at the Collection and is centred around three videos artworks from the Araluen Collection including Merilyn Fairskye’s 2001 Alice Prize winning video artwork Eye contact. This is the first time it has been exhibited since.

We also have Fix It Man and Fix It Wooman on loan from Yarrenyty Arltere Art Centre immediately as you enter the gallery.

To compliment the videos a number of large scale artworks have been included, many past winners of the Alice Prize and NT Art Award and haven’t been exhibited since they were acquired. They’re eclectic, unexpected and thought-provoking.

Also included is Robert Kleinboonschate’s impressive drawing of Larapinta Valley, completed on one roll of paper and winner of the 1993 Northern Territory Art Award, and a watercolour by Albert Namatjira and Rex Battarbee of Mount Sonder.
