Papunya School Collection
The Papunya Community School Collection is on permanent loan and consists of 14 boards painted at Papunya in 1972-73. These paintings, which were completely restored in 2002, are superb examples from the early part of the Western Desert art movement. Originally commissioned by Geoffrey Bardon these paintings mostly depict children’s stories used for teaching purposes. The artists include Johnny Warangkula Tjupurrula, Mick Namarari Tjapaltjarri and Shorty Lungkata Tjungurrayi.
