You are invited to a night of contemporary Australian dance at the Araluen Arts Centre

The Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture’s Araluen Arts Centre presents the highly acclaimed The Dinner Party, by Queensland’s Expressions Dance Company.

“We are pleased to welcome back Expressions Dance Company to the Araluen Arts Centre to present this fast-paced and exciting contemporary dance work,” Senior Director of the Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture’s Araluen Cultural Precinct, Dr. Mark Crees said.

The Dinner Party has been created by multiple award-winning choreographer, Natalie Weir, to expose the not-so-beautiful nature in beautiful people.”

An elegant dinner party hosted by an influential young man for his manipulative guests is thrown into turmoil when power meets greed, ambition and jealousy. As the evening wears on The Dinner Party exposes society’s insatiable desire for control and status and the power play between the guests intensifies as the accusations start to fly.

Who really holds the power at this sophisticated table? And who will be in control by the time coffee is served?

The Dinner Party is a mixture of explosive fun alongside gripping contemporary dance theatre that premiered to extraordinary reviews in Brisbane,” Dr. Crees said.

“The stunning choreography is highlighted by elegant costumes from acclaimed Australian fashion designer Gail Sorronda and music recordings from Queensland’s Southern Cross Soloists.”

Choreographer Natalie Weir explains "The Dinner Party is a highly visual feast for the senses, with modern, high fashion costumes and an exciting, fast moving story. You won’t have been to a dinner party like this before!"

The Dinner Party will be live onstage at the Araluen Arts Centre on Saturday 6 July, 8.00pm.
