Revised opening hours for Araluen Arts Centre

From 1 November, 2019, the Araluen Arts Centre, Central Australian Aviation Museum and The Residency will adjust their opening hours to reflect the reduction in visitor numbers that typically occurs during the summer months.

Until 31 October, 2019, all three attractions will remain open from 10am-4pm daily. From 1 November, 2019, they will open from 10am-4pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and 10am to 2pm on Sundays.

Mondays are traditionally a low-attendance day for museums and art centres and, in line with such institutions around the world, the three attractions will close on Mondays while operating under their new summer hours.

From 1 March, 2020, all three attractions will resume peak season opening hours of 10am-4pm daily.

Quotes from Felicity Green, Senior Director Araluen Cultural Precinct:

“We have adjusted our opening hours slightly to reflect reduced demand during the summer months, and look forward to continuing to provide Alice Springs residents and visitors with access to a range of cultural events and exhibitions six days a week.

“There will still be plenty for visitors to do and see at the Araluen Arts Centre during the quieter months, and this summer we will proudly exhibit The Visitors by Franca Barraclough and Shake, Rattle and Roll: A History of Central Australian Transport by the Greenbush Art Group.

“During the winter months, when fewer locals are away and an increase in tourist numbers leads to more demand, we will return to opening seven days a week, from 10am to 4pm.”
