The Alice Springs World Chamber Orchestra - Journeying Mparntwe

Music

The Alice Springs World Chamber Orchestra is journeying Mparntwe – with Arrernte woman Casii Williams welcoming to Country through song at sunrise @ Emily Gap. Like painted dots, musical performances will cover Alice Springs throughout the day, culminating in an evening concert at Witchetty’s with works for Didgeridoo, clapsticks, Euphonium and Flute.  Alice Springs students will accompany performances of works by DW Solomons, Penguin Café Orchestra, Philip Glass and Elena Kats-Chernin.

Due to the exodus in Afghanistan the ASWCO is also performing Kevin Bishop’s Afghan Suite #2, highlighting the music situation in Afghanistan – with a focus on Ahmad Sarmast’s  first women’s  orchestra of Afghanistan (which was also directed by Kevin Bishop in recent years).

The ASWCO with special guests on Euphonium, Horn, Trombone, Trumpet, Baritone Saxophone, Didgeridoo and Clapsticks.

7.30 pm at Witchetty’s, Doors & Bar open from 7pm.
