CAAFLU - Free Screening of Under Streetlights for Ochre Ribbon Week

Special Event

CAAFLU invites you to a free screening of the powerful film Under Streetlights as part of Ochre Ribbon Week, held annually in February. This special event is open to all community members and aims to spark conversations and raise awareness about the impacts of family violence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Ochre Ribbon Week, was founded in 2015 by our WA sister-service Aboriginal Family Legal Services (AFLS),. Ochre Ribbon Week created in response to the tragic death of an Aboriginal woman from domestic violence in Western Australia. Its motto, “Don’t Silence the Violence,” calls for urgent action to end family violence while honouring our lost community members, raising awareness, and providing information about support services.

The screening of Under Streetlights is an opportunity to come together as a community to reflect on the themes of healing, resilience, and hope. The film highlights the importance of addressing family violence while honouring the strength and voices of survivors.

This free event will also include snacks, and there will be information about community services for Aboriginal victim-survivors of Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence.
Together, we can stand united, amplify voices, and take action to “Don’t Silence the Violence.”
Join us to support Ochre Ribbon Week’s mission to create stronger, safer futures for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
