Duprada Dance Company 40th Anniversary Gala

A Week-end of Celebrations - Friday and Saturday Evening traditions recapturing, special memories or milestones. Duprada Dance Company dancers and artists from Darwin and Alice Springs.

The 40th Anniversary performance of Duprada Dance Company at the Araluen Arts Centre will be a spectacular event showcasing the best of the best inspired from the past 40 years.

Our dancers will be performing some of our audience favorites along with exciting new choreography by talented emerging choreographer Miriam Nichols.
The audience will enjoy the familiar atmosphere of pure joy and nostalgia as they are immersed into excerpts from famous classical ballets.
This will be a week-end to remember - our audience will be spoilt for choice, they canwatch our preparation ‘class on stage’ Saturday afternoon, take part in a Q&A following interviews with special guests.

With a sense of accomplishment as our audience will be treated to a mesmerizing new contemporary dance work ‘Music that Moves’ choreographed by Miriam Nicholls. Miriam is renowned for her collaborativeworks - Music that Moves has live music played by the Wonderland Chamber Orchestra.

Music that Moves is a story of movement, migration and music. Packed up and transported, by choice or by circumstance, four travellers arrive as
strangers in a foreign land. They bring their heritage, baggage, stories, music and dance, but underlying this is also grief for a lost home. Music that Moves
began from our own families’ stories of migration, and was further inspired by Shaun Tan’s graphic novel The Arrival. It is ultimately a celebration of home
and community, where music and dance are gifts.

Duprada Dance Company is honored to be a part of Araluen Arts Centre celebrating 40 years together and proud of the rich history we share.

There is so much to celebrate with a bright future - thank you to our valued community, dancers, teachers, artists, lighting designers, sound and mechanist technicians, arts administrators, production and stage managers, our sponsors and audiences.
