Exhibitions

One of the most important responsibilities of a collecting institution is the effective development of a definitive collection of art that explores the artistic response to the heart of the nation. The Araluen Art Collection comprises almost 1,200 artworks and this exhibition provides the opportunity to reflect on the way in which the Collection has grown and been re-visioned across the past three years during the tenure of Dr Mark Crees as Director in collaboration with Curator Stephen Williamson. The artworks showcase the very best Australian and Aboriginal art that responds to this region and have been acquired to build a sense of the significance of the Araluen Art Collection in the national context.
