Greenbush Goes Outback

Exhibitions

The Greenbush Art Group is back for their seventh exhibition at Araluen Arts Centre!

In this year’s exhibition, Greenbush Goes Outback, the artists are focusing on representing station life and farm animals from memory.

All 8 artists work within the Alice Springs Correctional Centre, creating sculptures using repurposed materials.

The Greenbush artists are students or alumni of the Charles Darwin University who have studied or studying Certificate I, Certificate II or Certificate IV in Visual Arts.

Greenbush’s story is one of transformation, using limited resources the work highlights the power of art as a rehabilitative force.

Proving that creativity can emerge from the most unlikely materials and circumstances.

All artworks are available for sale with profits returning to the artists.

Exhibition opening is on Friday 14 November at 6pm.

“These art courses I attended over the years helped me a lot. Ideas are a big thing for me, something I learnt form the art courses, so thank you.” WK

“I hope people can see the quirkiness and creative aspect in these sculptures I've produced whilst enjoying them as much as I did making them.” RK

“I know my journey continues far into my future thanks to the support of Greenbush, CDU and Araluen Arts Centre.” ER

“The whole idea of finding something old/thrown away and turning it into something new (giving it a new life), resonates within myself because in a way I'm trying to let go of the old pieces of me and use the useful parts in reforming the future version giving myself a second shot at life. “ BM

“I would like to say art has helped me to look at things with more than one perspective and understand that some times parts don't have to be what other people believe them to be.” BA
