Jude Prichard & Craig San Roque

Before the Fences Grew

Lanes, yards and growing up in Central Australia.

With Jude Prichard, Craig San Roque and Sally Mumford’s 'old town' drawings.

Craig and Jude came to Central Australia 1992, occupied mostly in land management and indigenous initiatives in health, young people, Injartnama and Mt Theo Outstations, intercultural law and community arts.

This event will focus on stories of what went on in the yards of our houses during the time when country people and friends could come and go, camping, crossing fences. Many people came to stay.

Many children grew up, while Jude, among others, initiated the original Fare Share/Afghan Traders and Sally Mumford began her Central Australian drawing.

In  such settings Andrew Japaljarri Spencer was able to conceive and complete his significant social comment paintings including - Thinking about the Future.

Craig in collaborations composed the Sugarman epic, A Long Weekend in Alice, The Yard, the Lemon Tree (on Paul Quinlivan) and Persephone’s Dog.

This will be a free and frank account of how we lived before fences grew tall.
