National Science Week 2025 | The Ammonites Rock!

Special Event

Lovers of hard rock and sedimentary rock will unite as we present The Ammonites, an all-female, dinosaur loving, super group who will take you on a journey to discover the prehistoric past. The show features songs about Australia’s prehistoric past and follows the stories of how each of the characters in the band, Danni, Morgan and Blaire, came to be researchers at Dinosaur University. In so doing, it explores the journey of the band’s characters as they navigate their way through careers as young women in science, to discover and connect to the world through the lens of palaeontology. Along the way, they’ll explore why the science of palaeontology matters, and how it helps us understand both where we have come from, and where we are going. With a focus on the Australian prehistoric story, the show will celebrate past creatures of our seas, our land and our skies.

The Ammonites will be joined by Alice Sings Community Choir and Honky Tonk Disco, both of which will be performing a range of songs based extremely loosely around the science week theme of ‘Decoding the Universe’.

This event will take place in the Araluen Theatre.
