Nomad: In The Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin
UK | 2019
Directed by Werner Herzog
Featuring Werner Herzog, Bruce Chatwin
"Herzog shoots these sites with the will and skill of a spell caster. No filmmaker uses drone camerawork so lyrically; his flying eye dips and swoops with a piercing curiosity." The New York Times
Werner Herzog turns the camera on himself and his decades-long friendship with the late author Bruce Chatwin, a kindred spirit whose quest for ecstatic truth carried him to all corners of the globe. Herzog’s deeply personal portrait of Chatwin, illustrated with archival discoveries, film clips, and a mound of “brontosaurus skin,” encompasses their shared interest in Aboriginal cultures, ancient rituals, and the mysteries stitching together life on earth.
"One of the most deeply personal films of [Herzog’s] long and brilliant career." RogerEbert.com
