Weaving the Magic - The 21st Alice Springs Beanie Festival
Opening Friday 23 June
The world is in need of something magical and Weaving the Magic, the 21st Alice Springs Beanie Festival, will provide it. Calling on entrants to wander the forests of the imagination and dream up the fantastical, the 2017 festival promises to be supernatural!
The Weaving the Magic exhibition features bewitching beanies from across desert communities, the nation and the world, from outrageous millinery extravaganzas to utilitarian, simple and elegant creations, all vying for prizes on offer. The mythical festival hub, Beanie Central, is a feast for the senses with thousands of beanies to try and buy, workshops offering cultural and creative exchange and the taste and smell of kangaroo tail roasted on the campfire. Opening night brings the magic carnival to the Araluen Arts Centre with music, parade, performance, food and art.
